Lazio Beaches

Discover Lazio and its best beaches

Lazio is the Italian region that extends along the Tyrrhenian coast and includes the city of Rome, the capital of Italy. Along with the Eternal City, the region is a heritage of history, art, and culture, home to incredible archaeological sites and wonderful landscapes. From green hills to sandy beaches, from mountains to plains, from lakes to coasts, Lazio offers a wide range of panoramic views for all tastes.

One example is the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, located in the Abruzzo Apennines, one of the most beautiful places in the region for nature lovers. The region is also known for its lakes, including Lake Bolsena and Lake Bracciano: located respectively in the provinces of Viterbo and Rome, the former is the largest volcanic lake in Europe and offers a wide range of water activities, including swimming, windsurfing, and fishing. Lake Bracciano, on the other hand, is a glacial lake that offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscapes.
Overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, Lazio boasts hundreds of kilometers of varied coastline with almost all beaches located on the mainland, except for the spectacular ones in Ponza and Palmarola. The coastline is characterized by the presence of several ancient fishing villages and highly popular tourist destinations, many of which have received the Blue Flag. This means excellent water quality and services that contribute to ensuring an excellent quality of life in the area.

Some famous examples include the beach of Sabaudia, located in the province of Latina, which offers a long stretch of fine sand and crystal clear sea, or the seaside resorts of Santa Marinella and Sperlonga, with their wide range of restaurants, bars, and shops.
The white sand of Sabaudia, in particular, forms dunes that reach the sea, while behind it is protected by the Mediterranean scrub and mountains. It is a highly sought-after destination for surfers, who come here to have fun when the wind picks up. On the waterfront, there are public and equipped beaches, ideal for fun and sports holidays with family and friends.
In the Sperlonga area, the splendid beaches are particularly suitable for families with children, marked by the Blue Flag. Sperlonga is also a charming village to be discovered by immersing oneself in the narrow streets of its historic center.

Santa Marinella, on the other hand, is one of the closest beaches to Rome. It offers a sandy coastline of about 20 km, alternating with areas with stones and cliffs. Here too, there are equipped bathing establishments and services for lovers of surfing and water sports.
A special mention goes to the Circeo area, immersed in the National Park, where some of the most beautiful beaches in Lazio can be found. These places are ideal for those who love adventure, close contact with nature, and relaxation away from tourist frenzy. Among these, we mention the Porto beach, the Prigioniero beach, and Le Batterie. Surrounded by cliffs overlooking the sea, the waters that bathe these coastlines are so clear that snorkeling and diving are almost a must.
