Calabria Beaches

Discover Calabria and its best beaches

Calabria, located in the southern part of Italy, is one of the most diverse regions of Italy in terms of landscape. Its mountains are part of the Aspromonte massif, which extends for about 30 km along the Ionian coast. Its hills are covered with a dense vegetation of olive and grapevines, which produce some of the most renowned wines of the region, such as Cirò and Greco di Bianco. Finally, its plains are characterized by fields cultivated with wheat, vegetables, and fruit.

With a long and rugged coastline stretching for about 800 km, the region is one of the main destinations for beach tourism in Italy, thanks to its varied beaches: solitary bays, cliffs, fine white sand, and sheer cliffs. Typically, the beaches are long and sandy along the Ionian Sea coast, while they are wild and rocky along the Tyrrhenian coast, with the possibility of overlooking numerous bays and even the Strait of Messina.
Starting from the hidden corners of Reggio Calabria, one can discover wonderful landscapes and experience unforgettable moments by following the coast towards Tropea to go up the Tyrrhenian coast or heading to the opposite side, the Ionian coast, passing through more unknown places such as the Island of Dino.

Tropea is one of the most famous beaches in Calabria. Located on the Tyrrhenian coast and awarded the Blue Flag, it is long, sandy, and white, with crystal-clear waters and a panoramic view of the Island of Dino. Tropea is also known for its historic center, with narrow alleys and stone houses, and for its cuisine: the famous "peperoncini di Tropea" are a must-try.
The same goes for the beaches of Capo Vaticano, one of the most diverse areas of the region, with flat and mountainous landscapes and bays of white sand surrounded by lush vegetation. Its beaches are also known for the proximity to marine caves, simply perfect for snorkeling.

However, there are also equipped beaches in more lively seaside resorts, such as Soverato beach: located on the Ionian Sea coast, it is surrounded by pine forest and offers a panoramic view of the coast, with the possibility of walking or cycling. Soverato is also known for its nightlife with its bars, clubs, and restaurants.
The length of the coast offers a huge range of proposals, and the presence of vineyards, orange groves, and olive groves, alternating with towns clinging to the mountains, enriches Calabria with scents, history, and culture. Wherever you are on the coast, you will undoubtedly enjoy breathtaking views.
